Renowned Canadian Baritone Louis Quilico Dies Suddenly at the Age of Seventy-five

Toronto, ON, July 15, 2000 -- Renowned Canadian baritone, Louis Quilico, has died suddenly of complications following surgery at Toronto Western Hospital. He leaves his wife, concert pianist, Christina Petrowska Quilico; his son Gino and daughter Donna; step-children Dominique and Alexandra Brégent; grandchildren David, Natascia, Enrico, and Sophia; his brother Anthony Quilico and sisters Madeleine Myner and Georgette Dandurand.

Quilico, who spent 25 years with The Metropolitan Opera in New York City, was considered one of the leading baritones of his time. But it was his defining turn as the cursed hunchback jester, Rigoletto, that won him international acclaim and the title "Mr. Rigoletto".
